Merciful Giving Eid Gifts for Children in North West hospitals
We are pleased to share that Bring a Toy to School Day is back.
You may know us as Share A Smile, however we are delighted to confirm that we are
now a registered charity and have rebranded to Merciful Giving (Charity No. 1210851).
Merciful Giving would like to invite your school to take part in our Bring a Toy
to School Day campaign, supporting children spending time in hospital by providing
them with brand-new gifts and toys.
Last year, we donated over 5,000 gifts and toys across five hospitals, including:
Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Manchester Royal Infirmary, East Lancashire Hospitals,
Royal Preston Hospital, and Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
How your school can take part:
We kindly ask that staff and students donate one brand-new toy or gift. Merciful Giving will then
distribute the donations to children in hospital ahead of Eid.
To ensure suitability for hospital environments, please note the following guidelines:
All donations must be brand new and in original packaging (no gift wrapping).
Suggested gift ideas include:
• Sensory toys
• Books
• Board games
• Arts & crafts sets
• Jigsaws and puzzles
• Gadgets
• Games consoles
• Journals, comics and notebooks
We are unable to accept:
• Toy weapons
• Second-hand items
• Clothes
• Soft toys
Our aim is to bring kindness and comfort to children in hospital, regardless of
background, and ensure every child feels remembered and supported.
“Every act of kindness is a charity.” (Bukhari, Muslim)
We look forward to working with you again.
