Our Curriculum
At Sacred Heart Primary School our school curriculum is underpinned by the values that
we hold dear at our school. The curriculum is the means by which the school achieves its
objective of educating children in the knowledge, skills and understanding that they need
in order to lead fulfilling lives.
We have developed a curriculum which engages learners through a creative approach.
They experience a wide range of topics which help to foster creativity, enquiry and
investigation skills along with a love for learning.
Our aim is to provide our children with a curriculum which engages all learners and
builds upon the individual abilities, talents and knowledge in order to develop the skills
they require for the future.
The curriculum is broad, varied and flexible and is aimed at developing the child as a
whole. We endeavour to enrich the children’s learning within the classroom by providing
them with first hand experiences. This is achieved both by inviting visitors into school and
by taking the children out on trips in order to apply their learning.
Your child’s journey through education in our Primary School will have three key stages,
each child will be assessed at the end of each one:
Foundation Stage: ages 4 to 5
Key Stage One: ages 5 to 7
Key Stage Two: ages 7 to 11
Our subject leaders are careful to plan through from EYFS to Y6 making sure of their progression of skills at every level.
Our curriculum is built around:
Lancashire for English and mathematics,
ODDIZZI for geography,
Plan Bee for history, art and design technology,
PLAN for science,
'Come and See' for RE,
SCARF for PSHE,
Charanga for music,
AMAVEN for PE,
Lightbulb languages for Spanish.
If you require any further information on any areas of our School curriculum, please speak to your child's teacher. Thank you.
