Spring 1

The topic for Spring 1 is ‘Journeys’. Our enquiry question is 'Who am I and where do I come from?' 

The core text for this half term has been ‘We're Going on a Bear Hunt’. The children have discussed the different journeys that they have been on. The children have engaged in conversations about the story and have talked about their own experiences. They have looked at the repeated refrains within the book and the descriptive language. 

The children have developed their understanding of where they live and their local community. The children have been on weekly walks in the local area. The children have looked at local maps, world maps and a globe. The children have looked at simple maps and used the key to help them find different locations and features. We have read 'Handa's Surprise' and compared England with Kenya.
