VE Day

Year One

In Year One we had lots of fun learning all about VE Day and celebrating the 80th anniversary. We took parts in lots of different activities, which included:

  • Singing songs about VE Day
  • Learning facts about WW2 and the first VE Day
  • We learned about some of the planes used during WW2 and then made our own
  • We made paper doilies and celebration biscuits
  • We pretended to be journalists and wrote newspaper articles

We finished off our celebrations with a VE Day party in class. We listened to music from VE Day and had some treats, including our celebration biscuits.

Year 3

To commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE day, Year 3 celebrated the special event signalling the end of World War II in Europe.

Activities included:

- Decorating GB bunting for the classroom.

- Researching and answering key facts from World War II and VE Day.

- Preparing fresh lemonade to toast our heroes and enjoy alongside yummy treats as part of our classroom party.

- Dairy entry imagining we are at a street party on 8th May 1945 and writing how we felt about WWII coming to an end in Europe.
