Chaplains
Our Chaplaincy Team at Sacred Heart RC Primary School
“Go and make disciples of all nations.”
– Matthew 28:19
At Sacred Heart, our Chaplaincy Team plays a vital role in the spiritual life and faith development of the whole school community. These dedicated pupils are leaders of faith, chosen for their compassion, commitment, and desire to help others grow closer to God. They are true role models for all pupils and staff.
Our chaplains proudly live out our mission:
We pray, we learn, we discern.
Leaders of Worship and Faith
The Chaplaincy Team leads and supports worship across all areas of school life. Their influence reaches every class, age group, and celebration:
- Daily Worship:
They lead class collective worship in Key Stage 1, setting a calm, prayerful tone for the day and modelling how to reflect on Scripture with reverence. - Key Stage Worship:
Every Tuesday, our chaplains lead or co-lead Key Stage worship, sharing Gospel reflections and prayers. - Support in Planning:
They guide and support Key Stage 2 pupils as they plan and prepare their own class worships—offering advice, resources, and encouragement. - Whole School Services:
Chaplains take on important leadership roles during whole school services, both in church and in school. This includes:- Remembrance Services
- Pilgrims of Hope celebrations
- Stations of the Light during Eastertide
- Advent and Lenten reflections
- Feast Day Liturgies and special assemblies
A Voice for Faith in School Life
Our chaplains are not only worship leaders—they are a spiritual voice in the life of the school. They meet regularly with staff to:
- Share feedback from pupils on worship experiences
- Help shape the direction of collective worship
- Suggest themes, ideas, and prayer opportunities that matter to them and their peers
Through their leadership, the chaplains help ensure that every act of worship is meaningful, inclusive, and centred on God.
Bringing Faith to Life
Chaplains at Sacred Heart help bring faith to life in creative and impactful ways:
- They prepare and maintain prayer areas in classrooms and around the school.
- They model reverence, kindness, and service in all they do.
- They help their peers understand the liturgical seasons, linking them to everyday choices, values, and actions.
Their role is deeply respected by pupils of all faiths and is central to our school’s identity as a place where faith is active, visible, and joyful.
Faith in Action
Being a chaplain at Sacred Heart is more than just a title—it is a calling to serve. Our chaplains inspire others not just through words, but through action: helping others, showing compassion and encouraging everyone.
