Acts of Solidarity
“With God all things are possible.”
– Matthew 19:26
At Sacred Heart, we take pride in caring for our community and God’s creation. With our faith at the heart of everything we do, we are inspired by Bishop John, Pope Francis and Pope Leo to follow the teachings of Laudato Si’ and Fratelli Tutti. These guide us to live in solidarity with others—standing together, showing kindness, and looking after the world around us. Through our learning, prayer, and actions, we do all we can to protect God’s Earth and support those in need.
Helping to clean up our local community.
As part of our commitment to being faithful stewards of God’s earth, our wonderful Enrichment Group recently took part in a community litter pick. Guided by our Catholic mission to care for creation, the children worked together joyfully and responsibly, collecting an incredible 10 bags of rubbish in just one hour!
This act of service not only helped beautify our local area but also reminded us of our shared responsibility to protect and respect the world God has so lovingly created. We are so proud of their efforts in living out their faith through action.
Climate Change/ Environment Project Spring 2025
Our children have thoroughly enjoyed learning about climate change and exploring how we can care for God’s creation. We are incredibly proud of the thoughtful and creative artwork they have produced as part of this important topic.
We would like to thank Blackburn with Darwen SACRE for their generous funding, which enabled us to purchase the materials needed for our project. This support has helped us promote the teachings of Pope Francis' encyclicals and encouraged our pupils to reflect on their role as stewards of the Earth.
Garden of Light

We recently had the amazing opportunity to work with Allister, a talented local artist, on a very special community art project for St Silas Church in Blackburn. Using recycled milk bottles, we helped create a beautiful stained glass-style window called the Garden of Light.
Our children’s colourful artwork was carefully pressed and combined with pieces from other local schools and charities. Together, we brought this stunning display to life – a true celebration of creativity, teamwork, and caring for our planet.
We’re so proud to have been part of something that not only brightens up the church, but also brings our community together in such a meaningful way.
