Art

At Sacred Heart we teach art and design through our class topics, this gives children a real sense of purpose when producing their amazing creations.

Currently we are part of a fantastic three year art project working with our 'Artist in Residence', local artist Pat Southern and two local schools: St Silas and Wensley Fold. Through this project children have the opportunity to work with and produce their own piece of art work through workshops, Art Stars and art club.

The work is then celebrated at the end of each term with an exhibition with a final exhibition to celebrate the three year project being held at Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery in September 2016.

There is a theme for each term and the work produced is based on Pat's work:
Autumn Term 2013 - Wensley Fold - LAYOUT
Spring Term 2014 - St Silas - INSPIRATION FROM MUSIC
Summer Term 2014 - Sacred Heart - GARDENS and FLOWERS
Autumn Term 2014 - St Silas - NATURE and TREES
Spring Term 2015 - Sacred Heart - SKETCH BOOKS
Summer Term 2015 - Wensley Fold - WATERCOLOUR
Autumn Term 2015 - Sacred Heart - SKETCH BOOKS

Year 6 Graffiti

This half term year 6 have been looking at graffiti with Miss O'Neill. They have had the opportunity to positively graffiti their own classroom before it is decorated over the holidays. Take a peek at the finished work and read some of their reflections on having this opportunity.
